6 months old....

Carter is 6 months old and half way to a year old! We can't believe how fast he is growing and how much he is changing from day-to-day.

We went to the doctor on Wednesday and he is 16 lbs 13 oz (50th %ile) and 27 in long (75th %ile).  Still on the tall-side. :) When he grows up he can help me get things down from the top shelf!  He got his flu shot, rotavirus oral vaccination, another round of his DTP, PCV, IHB, and IPV shots.  They only did a total of 3 shots... the flu shot and the rest are combined into the other two.  I got to hold him this time and he noticed the needles before she poked him and his lip began to curl and quiver!  Then, after she gave him his first one he looked up at me and cried!  I don't know who hurt worse- him or me!

But she said that everything looked  good and they were all very complimentary of how happy he is and how beautiful his blue eyes are!

I have been off for the past few weeks due to winter break, so I have been a 'stay at home mom' for the past few weeks! I have enjoyed spending time with my littler booger and I foresee myself having a difficult time going back to work... He is such a joy to be around!  We all gathered here at our house for Christmas dinner, which was wonderful!! It gave us time to spend just the three of us together at our house and not get wrapped up in traveling, packing to travel, etc.  They were both very easy, stress-free days and that is what the holidays are about! Spending time with your family on a stress-free basis! :)

Here is a list of things he is doing or beginning to do now:
*completely hold his own bottle (started around 5 months, but has since mastered it)
*feeding himself with a spoon (not perfected yet, and boy does it get messy!)
*almost sitting up by himself... he can sit up and play, but you have to watch him and sit by him because he hasn't mastered the art of catching himself before falling
*he is now sitting in the front of the grocery store buggies- no more heavy and bulky carrier for us to drag around!!
*he still LOVES chewing on his toes/feet
*he is sleeping from around 8pm-730/8am
*he loves blowing bubbles and smiling!

5 month old PICTURES!!!

For some reason it wouldn't allow me to post the 3 videos and pictures... guess it took up too much room. Any way, here they are!!

Carter and Santa at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA

Such a big  boy!! Holding his own bottle!!

His toes are his new favorite appetizer! :)

5 months old... This was taken at 6 am, so it was a little too early to smile...

so I took this one when I got home! :)

Merry Christmas from the Weems family 2010 :)

5 months old!!!

Well, sorry it took so long to post... we have been SUPER busy with moving, cleaning, arranging, rearranging, decorating, etc.  But it has all been worth it! The house looks great, and we are looking to completely clean my house out and put it back on the market the first of the year.

Carter, on the other hand, has been changing by the day! He LOVES to laugh at his Daddy!  No matter what I do, he won't laugh!! But all James has to do is make a funny noise and he is laughing... you will see evidence in the video below... LOL!  He is rolling over like a champ, started holding his own bottle, still sleeping through the night (from 8:00ish-9:00 pm to 7:00ish am), chewing on his toes, and can almost sit up on his own!! I am amazed at how such a tiny little thing can change so much from day-to-day!

Over the weekend, Carter went to visit Santa at Callaway Gardens.  :) I almost shed a tear because it was his first time visiting Santa!! We also had some professional pictures taken and as soon as she gives me the website, I will post it with the password so you guys can see them.   The preview pictures are below.. Enjoy and be on the look out for our Christmas card in the mail!! :) Love to all!! Shannon, James, and Carter

4 months old!

Wow! Four months sure have flown by!!  Yesterday we went for his 4 month check-up and he weighs 13 lbs and 9 oz (50th %ile) and is 25 inches long (75th %ile)! He is going to be a tall boy! :) He has also accomplished a lot within the past few days... Thursday night (Oct. 28th) he had his first bowl of rice cereal!! He wasn't too sure about it at first, but he ate it all!! Then, Friday at the doctor's office he rolled over twice from his back to his belly!! That was his first time rolling over!! AND his first tooth is just starting to make it's debut.. not poking through yet, but it's barely visable and you can feel it!! That is why he has been drooling so much and gnawing on his fingers! LOL... He also has started laughing! It is far and few between, but we take what we can get.. :o)

We are working on moving some more things over to the Pine Mountain house this weekend, so hopefully Carter will be able to sleep in his own nursery by next week!! We will see... I can't wait to be living out of ONE house, however, I will definately miss being so close to his doctor, the hospital, any type of civilization (haha..), stores, etc.. Such is life.  We are almost finished with the inside of James's house and next tax return we will be working on the outside of the house.  I can't wait until it's all done!! For now, the house looks like a dump/construction zone! One of these days we will be living in one house, have no remodeling to do, living by the lake (both James and I would LOVE this), etc.  It's ok to dream, right?!

Any way.. off to cleaning, feeding, packing, etc... like the song says, "what a beautiful mess I'm in"...

Remembering...

This past weekend we traveled to Rutledge, GA to attend Remember the Sunshine weekend at Camp Twin Lakes (a camp for families who've lost a child to cancer).  We packed up, what seemed to be, our whole house just for a two night stay!  This was the first camp function that Carter has been to and I was excited to be able to show him around his Aunt Stephanie's favorite place on earth.  As I walked around pushing him in his stroller, I listened to the laughter in the air, felt the warmth of fellowship, and the love of those who've lost... reliving the joy of Stephanie's life.  It was very emotional for me to take him out there because Stephanie was not there to show him around and show him off to everyone.  Since the day he was born I have seen Stephanie in his eyes.. I see the same sparkle in his eyes that was in hers.  As I sat and listened to all of the grieving parents tell their stories of their  child who lost their battle with cancer, I caught myself wondering, "how do they do it?"... The parents that were out there this weekend with us, along with the families, are the strongest group of people I know.  Needless to say, it was a very emotional weekend and I struggled not to cry every second I was out there... it is a very special place and truly is 'heaven on earth'... I am so honored to be apart of Camp Sunshine and I know that Carter will one day be honored to have such an angel of an aunt... his Aunt Stephanie.

See Carter, your Aunt Stephanie held you just like this in Heaven before you came into our world! I know she loves you beyond belief and I know the day we all meet again will be a beautiful day!

Happy 3 months!

It's hard to believe that 3 months have already passed us by!! I guess time really does fly when you are having fun! Carter is such a happy and content baby and we enjoy every minute of him and his sweet face!

Tonight at dinner he was sitting in his bouncy chair and actually started to reach and grab for things! He was playing with the toy on the side of the chair. :)  He has also discovered his hands and he loves to try to fit both of them in his mouth at one time... lol.  He is eating around 5-5.5 oz and we have started to put rice cereal (only a teaspoon right now- it calls for a tablespoon to start off with) in his milk, even though docor says to wait until 4 months. Oops! :) He has been sleeping through the night for about a week now, so maybe it will continue!  His 3 month size clothes are beginning to fit and I am quickly realizing that we bought him TOO many clothes! Ha ha! That's ok because if we ever go for broke within the next year, we won't have to worry about Carter having clothes to wear!!

He is the light of our life, the twinkle in our eyes, and the sunshine on our shoulders! We love you forever, like you for always, as long as we're living our baby you'll be!

a compilation of videos...

His first smile was at 8 weeks old on August 22nd! This is him at about 10 weeks old...

 He LOVES his Grandpa Phillips!

 His first tractor!
Such a sweet boy!!

A quick overview of the 1st three months...

On June 29, 2010 at 8:26 pm, our lives changed for the better! Our little boy, Carter James Weems, was born! He was 6 lbs, 10 oz and 19.5 inches long.  It was love at first sight!

Carter weighed 11.5 lbs at his 2 month check up on September 1st.  He got all of his first shots at this visit, and that was tough to watch!

He will be 3 months old on Wed., September 29 (hard to believe!) and he weighs somewhere around 13-14 pounds now, if our scales are right.  He has slept through the night from 9pm-5am the past 4 nights, so maybe that will soon become a habit. :)

He is smiling and cooing up a storm now and it melts our hearts everytime he does either one! We love him to pieces!!
